The overall aim of the project is the establishment of an interdisciplinary network of institutions and experts with focus on cross-border management of flood risk. Large scale flood events occur with growing frequency, with high economic impacts. There is a general consensus among experts, that for an effective management of the risk of large flood events coordinated cross-border approaches focused on the whole river basin are necessary. The expertise of Elbe, Rhine and Danube river basin management in governance and technical solutions in water and land management and in complex planning approaches will be joint to develop innovative solution.
Based on this project, the following FLOODLAND activities could be co-financed via the Czech programme EUPRO II for the period 2014 – 2017:
- 4 workshops: (1 per year) in Usti nad Labem, Dresden, Prague and Usti nad Labem
- Publication of papers, articles in refereed journal
- 1 collective monograph (in English)
- Submission of 3 joint project proposals (COST, Horizon 2020)
Under lead partnership of Jiřina Jílková, this funding was crucial to start of the long-term strategic FLOODLAND network which also includes interdisciplinary issues of cross border flood risk management.
